Produced by Royal Crown Derby Armadillo was introduced in 1996 and continued in production until June of 1999. The piece was modelled and decorated by John Ablitt. The base carries a gold stopper bearing the RCD crest similar to the under-glaze transfer crest and the inscription ‘Armadillo © 1996 ROYAL CROWN DERBY LIX’ (LIX = year code for 1996) (Illustrated).
